AAF 2020 Open Call for Participation – Special curated section “Open Space”

Armenia Art Fair 2020 delighted to invite all independent artists, curators, artists’ collectives and off-spaces to apply to show their works and projects at the Open Space during the 2020 Armenia Art Fair, which is free of charge.
Unlike the general part of the art fair, which will consist of booths, the construction of the Open Space will depend on the selected works and projects, and will focus on video art, installation, performance, print and photography.

Open Space Curator: Eva Khachatryan

Eva Khachatryan is an independent curator, based in Yerevan.Since 2018 she has been the curator and content manager of is Armenia Art Fair.
She is Vice-President of AICA Armenia (International Association of Art Critics) and is a member of CIMAM (International Committee of ICOM for Museums and Collections of Modern and Contemporary Art). From 2003 to 2008 she was a curator at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA) and also co-director of its Department of Fine Arts between 2006 and 2008. She currently runs the suburb.am platform.
Her curatorial work deals with women’s issues and new media in contemporary art. Since 2005 she has organized projects including the Women’s Dialogue“ festival (ACCEA, Yerevan) and the international media festival Art in the Age of New Technologies“ (ACCEA, Yerevan), as well as the exhibitions Alternative Vision“ (Art Point Gallery, Vienna), All and Now“ (Suburb Cultural Center, Yerevan) and Memory and Identity“  under the framework of the “Culturescapes” festival in Basel, Switzerland.
She was co-organizer for five years of the  Transkaukazja“ festival initiated by The Other Space Foundation“ (Warsaw, Poland), and worked on the “Gender Check” project and exhibition curated by Bojana Pejic and the ERSTE Foundation, MUMOK, Vienna. Other projects include collaborations with the Goethe Institute, the Lyuda gallery in Saint Petersburg, ArtBasis, Yerevan , and the Triumph Gallery, Moscow.

Artists and curators are invited to send:

  1. Name(s) of participant(s)
  2. Short bio
  3. Description of the work/project: title, concept, media (max. 200 words)
  4. Image (3 images) if available or drawing of what they are going to exhibit, links to the videos

Please note, all transport and insurance costs are to be covered by the artist.

Armenia Art Fair will take care of all exhibition costs, communications including catalog and packaging of works for return to artists.
